Raymond Walson Sr. Obituary

Raymond Luther Walson, Sr., was born on May 12th, 1986, to Riley Walson, Sr., and Margaret Walson in Chicago, Illinois. He was baptized at High Mountain Baptist Church. Raymond Walson and Star Everett had their first girl/boy crush at an early age, in 1999. Four years later, their first son, Raymond Walson, Jr., was born. The next year, Ramel was born followed by Robert in 2005. Everywhere Raymond went, you’d see his boys tagging along. Raymond loved basketball and he passed that love to his sons. He played basketball in high school at Von Steuben and ASA academy. He later went on to study at East West University in the CPA program. It was after this that he started coaching basketball in the Chicago Public School sytem (AL Raby), AAU (his own YBU squad), and anywhere else he could put a team in. Affectionately known as “Caoch Ray,” he was both coach and mentor to kids 12 years and older. During his times of coaching, he was blessed with meeting childhood heroes like Isiah Thomas, Antoine Walker, among other celebrities, and public figures. Ray was also a talented music creator, going by the name of TSD (The Streets Deacon), which signified his penchant to speak positivity, wisdom, and love in his songs. Proceeding Raymond in death was his father, Riley Walson, Sr.; four grandparents, Margaret Jackson, Van Gentry, Hattie Jones, and Richard Walson; two aunts, Bertha Hampton and Ingrid Gentry; two uncles, Kevin and Robert, and very close friends, Lazerick, Big Al, and Dickens. Raymond was the youngest of five siblings. He leaves to celebrate his life in paradise: his mother, Margaret Walson; significant other, Star Everett; three sons, Raymond, Jr., Ramel, and Robert Walson; sisters, Markette Walson and Malinda Mattlock; brothers, Riley, Jr., and Reginald Walson; a host of relatives, including nieces, Myeisha and kids, Michelle and kids, Angela, Riley III, Tayuna, Tamera, Tikaya, and Lauryn; close cousins, Eugene, Leroy, Jr., Donnell Jackson, Loffey Gentry, Lamone/LJ Jones, Eboni Hinton, and Andre Jones; close friends, Tristain, Rev. Steven Keys, Kurrell, Joey, Brian Lewis, Tiray, E-man, the Mc Dades, DJ, Lil Man (Mario), Cedric, Mark, and Vernell; two godsons, Lamarcus and Decorian; Augusta Family; and the basketball community of Chicago.
