Pastor Sam Banks Obituary

Pastor Sam Banks was born September 28, 1934, to Charlie and Lutisha Banks in Watson, AR. After leaving his home state, he lived in Michigan, New Jersey, and later, to made Chicago his hometown. Pastor Sam Banks accepted his call to preach on December 25, 1972. Pastor Sam Banks was ordained on March 18, 1975. Pastor Sam Banks was elected the pastor of New Galilee MB Church in September 1983. Pastor Sam Banks served as pastor of New Galilee Church for 25 years before retiring in 2007. Pastor Banks retired, becoming Pastor Emeritus after passing the mantle down to his son Reverend John Banks, Sr. He met and married the love of his life, Ms. Amanda Anderson, who preceded him in death, and shared over 50 years together. Pastor Banks was a well loved and respected Man of God. He was a man full of the Holy Ghost and loved praising God. He loved his church and his church family. Pastor Banks was a pastor to many and licensed and ordained many women and men of the gospel. Pastor Sam Banks made his transition into eternity on July, 27, 2020. Pastor Banks leaves to cherish his memories: children, Revernd John (Brenda) Banks, Sr., and Chrishanda Banks; his grandchildren, Amanda “NUNU” (Joseph) Faith, and John Banks, Jr.; aunt, Mae Willie Christian (Watson, AR); eight sisters-in-laws; two brothers-in-laws; sister, Geneva Jacobs (preceded in death); special childhood friend, Reverend Louis Meadows; his New Galilee Church family; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends, and those he loved and filled in for as a father figure.
