Kimberly Oby Obituary

Kim was a loving sister, mother. and grandmother. “Nana” was her preferred title to be called. Before she became ill, she spent a lot of quality time with her grandchildren. She made sure to keep them busy/active, by ways of having them assist her in the kitchen, cooking, or teaching them how to step. She was famous for making you practice with the door handle and broom, to work on your spins and transitions. Kim was the “Queen of Steppin!” She owned every dance floor she set foot on and welcomed all challenges. A lot of her evenings were spent ‘dancing the night away’ at the Rose or Foxy’s. Kim was always the life of the party, and her beautiful smile lit up the room. She enjoyed hosting gatherings where she would take charge. Kim was the boss. From cooking, to cleaning, to decorating, she did it all. Kim possessed many great talents that she mastered. She was very well known for her phenomenal skills in the kitchen. Generations of delicious recipes passed down from her grandmother ‘Big Mama’ and mother ‘Ma Bea’ (whom both preceded her in death) still linger on today. She’d come over to your house and ‘tear yo kitchen up’ (literally), but the outcome would be well worth it. Not to mention, she’d clean up behind herself. This was another one of her assets. She was very meticulous and thorough when she cleaned. No surface went untouched, and she’d go over it at least 3 times to ensure it was cleaned to perfection. Kim had the biggest heart. One of her passions was caring for others. It didn’t matter if you were a relative, friend, or total stranger, she treated everyone with the same love and compassion. If you had a sick loved one that needed to be cared for, or you needed help around the house, she was just a phone call away. She’d make sure they were bathed twice a day, cooked full course meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and would have their homes cleaned from top to bottom. She would do this on a daily basis, with no complaints, and still come home to care for her grandchildren, and cook dinner. Kim was a super woman to many, and will surely be missed
