Hattie Love Obituary

Hattie Pearl Love was born in Jackson, TN on November 29, 1953, to Sammie and Lela (Ross) Love. She was the second child born to this union. Hattie confessed her hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age by Reverend Edicott Ivy of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Hattie attended grammar school and middle school in Chicago, IL. She went on and graduated from Crane High School. Hattie’s professional career started at Bankers Life and Causality. After a reconstructing of the company, Hattie moved on to work for Kemper Insurance. Hattie ended her career at the Chicago Department of Public Health as a data entry clerk. One of the joys of Hattie’s life was the birth of her only biological daughter, Laneisha Love. Hattie acquired many sons and daughters in her lifetime, and she loved them all. Hattie could be described as a sweetheart, friend, confidant, an adviser, and wise beyond her years. Hattie had a way of endearing people with her raspy voice and infectious laugh. Hattie never met a stranger she would and could talk to anyone. If you were her friend, she was with you all the way to the end. Hattie’s hobbies included reading, crocheting, and listening to quartets, such as The Cantan Spirituals, Rance Allen, and many others. Hattie loved her family and friends immensely. Especially, her daughter, Laneisha, and her four grandchildren. They were the source of her pride, joy, and her legacy. Hattie went from labor to reward at her home in Chicago, IL, on May 3, 2020, at 3:06 am. Hattie was preceded in death by her father, Sammie Love; her sister, Jean Cole; brothers, Charles and Duane Love; niece, Brenetta Beck; and granddaughter, Jayanna McGraw. Hattie leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Lela (Jimmy) Love; daughter, Laneisha Love; son in love, Samuel Heard; grandchildren, Journae McGraw, Jayla Love, Zankee Love, and Joshyr Heard; sisters, Sandra and Gwendolyn Love; brothers, Darrell, Gary, and Mark Love; best friends, Virgie, Charlotte, and Francis; a special friend, Rico Pierre Louis; god children, little Gary, Chelise, and Raashida; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
