Anita Brown-Washington Obituary

Anita Louise Brown-W ashington, affectionately known as “Neat,” was the fourth of seven children born to the union of the late Anner Brown Belmer and Clifton Brown (Willie Belmer), on December 16, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois. She accepted Christ at an early age at the Unity M.B. Church in Chicago, Illinois. In her early years, Anita attended Austin High School and later furthered her education by enrolling into cosmetology school, where she discovered her love for hair and fashion. She enjoyed doing hair and later designing her own clothes by way of crocheting. Not only was she an experienced knitter, but she was by far one of the best cooks our family has ever known. Some of her favorite dishes to make were macaroni crab salad, chocolate cream cheesecake, and stuffed pork chops, just to name a few. Anita was united in Holy matrimony to Raymond Eugene Washington on February 11, 1978. They shared 47 years of love and happiness together as one. Anita was a very caring, loving, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She lived her life to the fullest and was never afraid to show a little bit of tough love when it was needed. Anita instilled in all of us the true meaning of strength and grace, with a side of hugs and kisses. Anita departed this life for eternity peacefully, at her home Friday, April 24, 2020. Anita was preceded in death by her mother, Anner Brown Belmer; and father, Clifton Brown (Willie Belmer); brother, Clifton Brown, Jr.; brother-in-law, Robert Brooks; mother-in-law, Mary Washington; father-in-law, Otis Washington. She leaves to cherish her memories to: her loving husband, Raymond Eugene Washington; children, Kenya Brown, Keith Brown, Kelvin Brown, Keshia Brown, and Raymond Washington, Jr.; grandchildren, Kiara, Keishaunna, Monique, Jakia, Kemyia, Keith Jr., Kevin, Kemonte, Kevonte, Keith II, Kimon, Kelvin Jr., and Kristopher; ten greatgrandchildren; sisters, Helen Brown Brooks, Vivian Belmer (Tony), Jackie James (Bill), and Linda Clemon Brown; brothers, Rickey Brown and Marvin Belmer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other family members, and friends.
